More than a million patients visit Mayo Clinic each year. It is considered to be the number one hospital in the US. Its research center dedicates to solving the most complex medical issues in the world, which makes it a global leader in solving rare conditions.

Now, they took a step forward. Mayo Clinic has partnered with Google to transform clinical experiences, do innovative clinical research, improve diagnostics, and, thus, progress results with patients.

What will Google’s role be in the partnership? They’ll use their cloud computing and AI capabilities to offer a transformative effect over the insights in clinical research.

Mayo Clinic’s platform will be based on Google Cloud, and Google will help them to create machine-learning models for rare and complex diseases. Mayo Clinic expects to share these models and research with physicians around the globe to advance in the treatment and diagnosis of complex, rare, and acute ailments.

“When selecting a technology partner, Mayo Clinic was looking for an organization with the engineering talent, focus and cloud technology to collaborate with us on a shared vision to deliver digital healthcare innovation at a global scale,” said Christopher Ross, Chief Information Officer, Mayo Clinic.

“With Google Cloud’s secure and compliant digital platform, we will be able to leverage innovative cloud technology, industry-leading AI and healthcare-specific solutions, so we can focus on revolutionizing healthcare delivery and taking care of our patients.”

Mayo Clinic’s partnership with Google Cloud is a 10-year deal to be the cornerstone of the digital transformation of medical research. Google expects healthcare to be one of the fields where data analytics and cloud computing will have the most significant impact in the next few years.

The growth of the healthcare data analytics market shows this impact. It is said to rise to $ 8 billion through 2025. Microsoft, IBM, and Adobe have also partnered with other healthcare companies to use data analytics to improve healthcare providing.

However, Mayo Clinic took a step further. They attempt to transform how virtual care with AI diagnostics and to improve their medical research ability exponentially. Similarly, Google will create machine-learning models for them to improve their ability to diagnose correctly and provide better treatment in a precise way.

“As health care embraces digital innovation, management and analysis of complex data will become increasingly important,” Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian said. “We look forward to helping the renowned medical center transform health care to serve patients around the world.”
